Just for the record, here's another view of Cleveland's Bronto at Stranton, but from the other side! It was taken on the same day as my previously sent view of this machine.
I think Grampian were all white at one time, but are now reverting to red after the consolidation of all Scottish fire services.
There are a few white fire truck liveries here in the USA but they are rare. Not to mention the occasional yellow, silver, green, blue and even black - usually original traditional liveries going back a century or more on long established volunteer fire companies' rigs....
We also enjoy a bewildering array of flashing lights on emergency vehicles. Not only are there often as many as a dozen or more, but they can be virtually any color or combination of colors.
In Chicago only the city police are blue, but the state police are blue and red. Ambulances are red and yellow and clear, but CFD are red, clear. yellow and green!
As John says, Grampian had a whole fleet with white cabs, I know one of the team responsible for the change and it was does for visibility. They are being phased out now as part of the standardization with th3 single Scottish Fire and Rescue service, none will be repainted they will continue white until they retire. A couple white pumps are serving in the old Highlands and Island region and the spare Hydraulic Platform is ex Grampian and it is still white too and can be seen in Edinburgh fairly often

I find it noteworthy that no other brigade paints its vehicles' front panels white - either in the UK or, as far as I know, anywhere else!
