The front bumper mounted rotating red lights fitted to these units are very popular on Japanese emergency vehicles, to assist their drivers when entering blind intersections.
But this idea has not really caught on elsewhere, although most US fire trucks have side-mounted flashers on their extended front bumpers.
Perhaps they do not last too long, as they are likely to be the first item to break if the car bumps anything!
