Bocas del Toro fire brigade American LaFrance

American LaFrance pumper of the Bocas del Toro FB in Panama. This pumper was built between 1914 and 1916 and acquired by Bocas del Toro in 1926.
Has a bronze pump for pumping salt water. last time used was in 1981.

Sorry, but this truck is a later model at least 1927-1928. Has cast radiator, crowned fenders and rail around cast cowl. NOT 1916 unless extensively rebuilt later. Only ALF register no. will prove me wrong.

Supplied 'New', to the USA Territory of the Panama Canal Zone, in the 1920's; and handed down later ?

The Canal Zone is now part of Panama, the country, since 1999.

Even if it was a 1928 build, it served for 53 years.
Not a bad record!

Most Alfies had pneumatic tires by 1927, so it could have been a reworked older rig.
