Dennis F28 703LYA in festive mood!!
Ths picture was taken by Bristol Bob and is published with his full permission. It shows Dennis F28 Water tender 703LYA ex Somerset and latterly County of Avon Fire Brigade when it was being used to raise money for the Fire Service Benevolent Fund. After being taken off the run in 1979 it was kept on by the brigade and used at Christmas time to go around collecting for the FSNBF with Father Christmas sat in the sleigh on top. In the lockers was plastic sheeting with disco lights behind and you can see in the photo at the rear on the nearside shelf is the generator to power the lighting. The machine subsequently passed into private hands and was still used to collect at Christmas time for charity as well as towing a vintage tractor on a trailer to shows during the summer months. My father and myself now own it and have now put it back to its former glory as its makers Dennis intended. There are photos on this site of how it looks today.
