American chassis were very popular in the Netherlands in the 1950s, before German makes led by Magirus began to make big inroads.

There were a lot of Chevrolets and Dodges, a few Internationals and a handful of others, but Ford was by far the most popular - and at one time was even outselling the locally built DAF chassis in fire service applications.

This is a very typical body style and may have been a pumper, although if it was, it is not clear whether it had a front or rear mounted pump, as both types were built in large numbers, and the roof rack for ladders and suction hoses must have disappeared too. The spacious crew cab is also very characteristic of many pumpers, rescue squads and material trucks too....
