Fire Engines Photos

I grew up in Darlington. It seems a rather odd town to base a foam truck like this, unless the brigade is worried about tanker fires on the A1(M).

There are no major hydrocarbon fire risks in its response area that I know of, and it is on the edge of the D&D Brigade's district rather than being central.

I could understand Cleveland operating a unit like this, but having one at Darlington seems a bit surprising?

Last time I stopped by was two or three years ago, and I did not see a foam unit at the station. It now has two pumps, an aerial and some assorted non-emergency support and/or reserve equipment.

At its peak, this station had a useful front line appliance in each of its seven bays, although I am guessing that some of them were always alternately manned by the duty watch!
