Dennis F28 Fire engine Grays Fire station
Dennis F28 pump escape pumping from open water in the drill yard at Grays fire station in Essex.
Photo taken 1n october 2007 this appliance is still owned by essex fire service and can be seen in the museum at Grays.
This machine was on the run at Maldon for fourteen years from 1963 until 1977 when it became a divisional spare at grays until 1981 when it became a mobile museum.

Essex had a lot of these. I remember two at a four pump house fire near Brentwood, with a very inaccessible roof fire in a large detached house, where the backup units were both London appliances.
Even back then it was rather obvious that two quite separate efforts were going on - one by the very energetic Brentwood retained crews and one by the much more laid back "professionals" from the big city!
