Ah yes, RHT 553 - it ended its days with an industrial brigade if memory serves me rightly !

I think it is 1953,possibly HCB,it went to Airsprung in Wiltshire,then into preservation,was probably destroyed in a fire when its dockside home went up in flames a few years ago.

These Bedford 'S' types were bodied by Oldland. They were delivered between 1953 and 1957 and stationed at:(RHT 553)WrT 1953 Ashton Drive,(UHT 994)PE 1955 Ashton Drive,(VHY 436)PE 1956 Avonmouth,(YHU 265)WrT 1957 Southmead and (150 BHW)WrT 1957 Brislington.

think that RHT is Oldland bodied as there are
other Brigades using almost identical machines.
I agree that all the others you mention ARE Oldland bodied.

Further to my comments,Simon Rowleys excellent
booklet British Fire Brigades from some years back
states that this is HCB bodywork.

You're perfectly correct, Bob. RHT 553 was bodied by HCB, and was ordered in January 1953.

I have recently been advised that this appliance was not destroyed in the fire,does anyone know where it is now?
