Thanks for this Peter, very similar to a ramp truck that was at RAF Sculthorpe in the late seventies. We were based there for a year while the runway at Marham was relayed. The AFDS manned the base as it was a reserve airfield and used American machines, the USAF firemen brought in for excercises. We rashly challenged the Chevy to a race against the Tacr 2 on the main runway. The Chevy won, by a mile!
What a pig but fun to drive, ask any P10 rescue guy if you leave the side doors up if it'll fly, lol. Anyone thats spent time on this truck has seen a few of them ripped off coming out of the stalls. Upper Heyford had some great firefighters, one of the highlight bases of my career, I'll never forget you guys.
