In response to the request, here's a front view of BXG 600. Sorry I could only do b&w that day, and when the last posted rear view of it which was in colour was taken, it couldn't be moved.

Ian, this is priceless, now that's what I call a fire engine! I think the Marcels may have to rethink the date box again, I liked it when the date was the estimated date the photo was taken, , , ,

Hi Pavel, the datebox isn't changed..... But the contributors have to fill in this box. We also have a hidden box where we (the editors) fill in the date when a vehicle is built.

Hi Ian thanks again for a fantastic pic,

This machine was new on 14.02.52. It is a Leyland Comet with Windover Bodywork. It was withdrawn in 1969 being cannibalised for spares by Teesside.
The rear end just visible to the left belongs to DDC999C a 1965 Bedford TK Emergency Tender.

Ian, for this early 1950's period type machine, B/W gives it that great touch
of splender. It shows an age when fire engines really stood out on there own.
Its a brilliant photo and thanks for sharing it with us.

This was Middlesborough's first (and last!)post war Leyland, and in around 1966 the then Third o
Officer told me it was this machine which had convinced them to switch to Dennis. At the time they had an F7 DP, an F12 PE, their unique F series low-profile open cab MP, a prewar Leyland TL, and a prewar Leyland open Braidwood pump, which they had converted to a searchlight car.

This Bedford was the town’s first ET and replaced the possibly unique Leyland searchlight tender in picture 43965 on this site. I am pretty sure it was a lot more useful!
