now that looks like a fire truck begging to go home with somebody to look after it ( ps redhill is in surrey for anyone who doesn't know where it is ) i saw this flying round the circuit 2-3 years ago doing drills with the crews

This is a shame, unfortunatley John anyone taking this on would need deep pockets! The old SDI lump is thirsty, if its the Tacr 1 its only four speed and 9mpg is about the limit. Still its a pity but I think we will see more of this in the present climate.

The Airfield fire officer would sell this vehicle, that is the reason i took pictures of it when looking to buy it. There was a bit more work needed to it than i was prepared to do.

Jake I hope you are right, enough of us on here say as much. Its going to be interesting with some brigades when they realise the licence to spend money has finished. Thats when they ( not all ) will wish they had bought quality in the first place.

This TACR2 was in collision with another airfield 'crash' truck (how appropriate) so is now being used as a source of spares. If you want it get in while there's still enough left to save. Incidentally it used to be fitted with balloon tyres to avoid ripping up the grass strip.

This vehicle is now nearing completion of a full bare metal restoration and will be attending various events this summer (2012).
