Rockwood operates this Sutphen pumper, these two Internationals and three other units not included in this photo - a fourth engine, a Sutphen mid mount 100 foot aerial and a Ford light rescue.

They employ 13 full-time and 16 paid on call firefighters, protecting this small town with around 5, 500 population and attending some 900 calls a year.

The response plan is for four full time riders to crew the first due unit 24/7, with the on-call personnel bringing up the attendance to complete the full NFPA mandated minimum of sixteen total responders in the event of a structure fire call.

The department is rated Class 4, which is quite an achievement for a small community like this....
