Hi Paul, during the 80's most of Cleveland's Officers Cars appeared to be Fords of one discription or another. This one appeared to have been allocated to Stockton (Norton). I remember seeing this car frequently. Also in use during this period, were Minivans, which were later replaced by BL Metros. Currently most brigade cars appear to be Peugeot. This was the only time I managed to photograph the Hydraulic Platform DDC1.
I remember when the CFO had a black BMW registered S999 CFO. This vehicle was last seen - complete with that registration number - many moons ago in Newcastle where it was operating as a taxi !

When I joined the (none rider) station officer had white Simca vans with blue lights. They then went to various Peugeot cars, now some Station managers and above have red Skoda estate cars with yellow lines down the side. But most from station manager and above are on the car user scheme so they are running round in BMW's, Volvo, Merc estates Seat top of the range motors with magnetic lights. And by the way I'm still in the job !.
When I started at Teesside FB (1968)we had mini-vans for the station runabout the duty station officer had either a white Austin A40 Countryman or white F reg Vuaxhall Viva saloons with blue light fitted. The first fire I attended was in a Viva, with the Station Officer. We were permitted to ride with him prior to attending the training school.
