Somerset Fire and Rescue Mercedes-Benz SaxonMercedes 1124 Bodywork by Saxon. Delivered to Somerset Fire Brigade in 1992 this appliance was one of a batch of four and was stationed all its life at Glastonbury at the Water tender Ladder. I believe this appliance is now in use in New Zealand having been bought buy an export company and shipped over there. The picture is taken in the City of Wells in mid 2005 when the appliance was in attendance at an 8 pump chemical incident. Staff at the local job centre opened a package containing an unknown substance and then began to fell unwell. The substance turned out to be non harmful and no-one was seriously injured. The IRU's from Wellington also attended with their supporting pumps as well as a specialist team from Surrey. The incident caused major chaos in the normal quiet, sleepy city of Wells.
