Rüstwagen is the german term for "Emergency Tender", ET or the more modern term "Rescue", there´s also the term "Gerätewagen" which is roughly the same but less equipment, no permanently fixed front-winch, generator+extandable flood lights, RW came in 3 different sizes, RW-1 the smallest, and RW 3 the largest size according to german DIN standards

The type is not a W50.
It is a L60!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what´s the difference between a IFA W-50 and a L-60 ?? to me they look just the same...more powerfull engine maybe ? by the way thanks for the good GDR pict.

The L60 was built since 1986 and it was a better version of the W50.
The most important differences are the engines. The an W50 has an 125 PS(HS) engine an the L60 an 150 PS(HS engine. The W50 was build to load 5000kg an the L60 6000kg. You are able to differ this two trucks very easely if you look at the cooler door's. Look at my other pictures and you will see the difference.
By the way W50 stands for place where there are build an for the weight which they are able to load. W = Werdau 50 = 5000kg, L = Luckenwalde 60 = 6000kg

The L60 is equipped with a 180PS (HS) engine.
