Sorry Rick, you are absolutely right, Sabre it is! My fault for rushing! All of the Essex ALPs are due for replacement soon and the Sabre is one of the very last true 'English' appliances to be placed into service. As a matter of interest for all out there, we have a fine Fire Museum at Grays Fire Station, with 5 vintage appliances, all of which are 'runners' (when they feel like it!). For Pat, yes, Southend is on the northern shore of the Thames Estuary.
