Reading Fire brigade Dennis Light 6

Some of you may remember that I recently posted a b&w shot of ARD 780, the Dennis Light 6 that was new to Reading.
I thought you may like to see this colour shot of it that was taken many years ago when it was in preservation.

Another classic picture Ian, but I can't find the B/W you say you've posted?.
The most recent B/W photo I can find that you sent in after my request was
that of a 1937 Leyland FK6'CUB'of the Wokingham Fire Brigade which was later
to appear in that Benny Hill sketch. You said you thought you a had a colour
slide of that 1937 Leyland(AMO 654).Maybe this is the one your thinking of.

Sorry Pete, I'm getting old ! The b&w was indeed of AMO 654 (Wokingham)as you so correctly say. Again - apologies.

Ian, Great to see this photo of ARD 780, looking at the surrounds it would appear this was taken at the Englefield Park, Theale rally some years ago.
I and my family often used to show her on behalf of the then Berkshire Fire preservation society and drive her on Brigade colleagues weddings and funerals.
Having retired to West Sussex some years ago I have lost contact of its whereabouts and would be interested if it is still in preservation.
Its last operational allocation was Stn 21 Wallingford which was then in Berkshire.
Have you or Pete Matten anymore photos of Berkshire appliances!
Cheers Alan

Does anyone know when AMO 654 was delivered to the Wokingham Fire Brigade? The date I have is October 1937, possibly the 24th. The following article from a Reading Mercury dated 17th October 1937 states:-
NEW FIRE ENGINE
On October 24th Wokingham residents are making a big drive to realise a large sum towards the purchase of a new fire engine. On that date a flag day is being held. The Dennis engine, “Swift, ” which has given yeoman service in the extensive area since 1914, is being replaced by a modern vehicle. The sum of £1, 000 is needed for the new engine and accessories.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
