Fire Engines Photos

ELG is a Cheshire Reg I am fairly certain it's not Northwich the had a Morris Commercial with a Hatfield pump.

ELG is certainly Cheshire. Neal, Northwich had GMB 731, Morris Commercial but I have no details of the above photo. Does anyone know if the Congleton UDCFB Thornycroft/Lawton PE is still in existance?

This is a 1937 Bedford WLG that spent all its working life at ICI Mond Division, Northwich, Cheshire. Bodywork is reputedly by either Duple or Harrington, both better known for their coaches. Photo was taken at the HCVS London-Brighton run by the look of it. The vehicle was certainly there in 1972 but I can't date this particular photo. It's still licensed so must be around somewhere.

Hello! I can help with this. My father bought this fire engine and restored it, the photo is from the London to Brighton rally. My family still own it, unfortunately it isn't in such good condition now. We used to go on lots of historic vehicle rallies in it, and it was always greatly admired. We have a wonderful cine film of us driving down the Northwich bypass (in Cheshire) taken when I was a child. If anyone would like more information please let's know.

My father and I purchased this vehicle today. I will upload some pictures of it's current condition when we bring the vehicle back to our workshop on Tuesday next week if anyone is interested.

Yes sure there will be much interest on here !

All pre-war Bedford's are thin on the ground , mainly because the army requisitioned thousands from their civilian owners during the war and either left them in France or wrecked them , still needs must !

In later years ICI seemed to usually buy ex local authority appliances. The Cheshire reg would certainly fit with Mond Division

18 months after we purchased this vehicle it is now finally coming together, all the chrome work has been redone, engine all running, many many hours spent on restoring this fine vehicle, it has been a pleasure restoring her, looking forward to taking this lovely vehicle to a few shows, Sally Kershaw, i would love to see the cine film you have, if anyone wants to see some pictures of this vehicle please email me as I don't know how to upload them onto here

ELG 479 was displayed, in pristine condition, in the Historic Transport marquee at the Transpo '73 exhibition held at No. 6 Dock, Port of Manchester from May 19 to June 2 1973.
