Its rare to see a 'Quint' being operated by UK fire, usually quint is used in USA.The ladder look like Magirus while the Volvo FM crew cabin color scheme is very nice looking.
I'm sorry but I think that this is hideous. I hope that it has air suspension to give it more ground clearance when it is running. If it is meant to be a multi-purpose machine, can you image taking this across a field to a grass fire? I just don't think bigger is better. Surely machines like this are only motivated by crew reduction?
This appliance is based in Milton Keynes, a new town, about 30 to 40 years old, with a population of around 200, 000. The road system was planned and built in an American style grid design, and throughout the town there are many wide fast main roads. It also has a lot of large modern commercial buildings. It is nothing like a traditional European town with narrow streets, etc. It's probably one of the few places in the UK that this American style 'Quint' would suit. For anyone who is interested, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service are now showing photographs of almost their entire fleet in the 'Vehicle Enthusiasts' area of their web site, (www.bucksfire.gov.uk).

i think this is hideous, i much prefer strathclydes scania ARP i am unsure if there is pics on here see pic 1457, 1458 and 1459 are the new styles (2006, 2007)and pic 979 is the older style (2005) The 07 plate has 2 cctv cameras, one in the cab facinf forwards infront of the OiC and one above the Oic's door. jamie
dose any body have any shots of this in action i belvei that the ladder came from the stations old iveco(ow just saw on the basket )has this machines been called out as a pump or to that matter at all
This machine is marvelous. Im sure its well suited to the area it serves. Although Strathclydes ARP's are a lot more compact, they are heavy cumbersome beasts and many many firefighters hate them. They are very slow and shouldn't be used as 1st response appliances. This machine used by Bucks does appear to be quite a length, it must struggle down small roads and tight corners, looks fantastic all the same!
huge engine but doesn't really look like it can reach far for the size of it

The Magirus ladder is it part of the former Magirus Deutz. I see the name Magiruz and Iveco on the ladder which causes me to ask. Thanks in advance Andrew.
On YouTube, There is a drivers view film from this Quint leaving Great Holm Fire Station in Milton Keynes on route to an incident. The link is www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgrl5Rp6NDo

Impressive-looking rig, designed, as has been said, to fit her area. As a First-on-scene Engine; she can get a lot going very quickly. Also, by putting the Aerial on the Pumper; solves the age-old problem of 1st-arriving Pumper blocking off the best location to spot the Aerial. Now, you only have to worry about the Chief's Car! getting in the way. I have been following the [heated] discussions on these "Quints" on Pictures 3188 and 1458. Keep up the good work. Regards, Pat_R-B
Sadly this appliance was not at either the Broughton or Great Holm open days this year as it has been off the run for several months and is currently at GB Fire awaiting a new part. I was told it may not return at all. Shame as I really wanted to get some photos of it.
its off the run !!! well well, check out 3188, how long has it been off and at what cost i wonder, and what have they been using in this appliances absence? shows they didnt need to spend over £300.000 after all
Impressive, lovely, cool, nice. Some comments describing Bucks new Aerial pump, but for a piece of kit that cant do the job that it was intended for, then I'm sorry to say that it is a total waste of our money, us being the taxpayer.Strathclyde also seem to have purchased white elephant appliances, namely THE ARP. These machines are hated by the crews who operate them, and given the chance they would sooner work a more conventional pump and indeed would welcome the return of ALP, TL and HP high reach appliances. As far as crews are concerned, they aint fit for the job, although they are very photogenic, oh and yes, they would make stunning limos, watch this space.
The Buckinghamshire Fire web site, www.bucksfire.gov.uk, has a latest incidents section which usually lists the appliances attending incidents. Where you see the call sign 'FJC 11PA2' from Great Holm, that's the quint. Recent incidents show it to be in use. The site also has photographs of all of Bucks current vehicles.
What is the maximum height and distance between placement of this Volvo fire tender and location of fire, this Fire Engine can help in rescuing the people trapped in fire at height?
