Austin K2 Auxiliary Towing Vehicle. This Austin K2 ATV is seen here towing a Coventry Climax FSM-Type trailer fire pump. The 214gpm
Godiva single-stage centrifugal pump was driven by a four-stroke,four cylinder, water cooled petrol
engine. Many hundreds of these trailer pumps were built for the war effort but due to there limited
output, they were widely rejected by NFS firemen.
This Austin K2 (GLT 92) is actually, although in grey is seen as it would have been post-war.It has
spot-lights above front windows, the small door-front of crew cab(full length door other side)above
pump shows that a water tank and hose-reel have been added,in actual fact this appliance would
now have been known as a First Aid Tender. Also note the red flashing warning lights above front
windows,this was another post-war add-on possibly by the brigade(post 1948)operating it.
I may add some comments onto this picture, but I really don't want to be to critical on what is a well
preserved Austin K2 ATV from the war period, and now under new ownership I understand.
