Fire Engines Photos

This vehicle holds (or at least held) the Guiness Book of Records statistic for the fastest fire tender in the world...Not sure how they define the criteria for fire tender/engine but it made about 130mph I think. Its a mid 1990s Jaguar XJR for those of a car persuasion!
Pretty neat vehicle, there was also an older XJR used for the fire tender supporting the fastest car in the world Thrust SSC, which is at Coventry Motor Mueseum, or it was a few years ago!

The World's fastest fire and emergency response vehicle was developed and built during 1996 by Jaguar's Special Vehicle Operations Department in Coventry.
The Thrust S.S.C. XJR Firechase car, the ultra-fast response vehicle was based on
Jaguar's 155 m.p.h.(250 k.p.h.), supercharged six cylinder, XJR saloon.
Equipment carried:Crew of 2.Mike Hearn & Brian Palmer who had to be trained on
all equipment carried, and had to have hot fire training.This was carried out at
facilities at Gatwick Airport.The appliance had a 200 litre water/foam tank that
was fitted to the back seat area, with two, 20 metre lenghts of 45mm lay-flat hose
which was stored in the foot wells of the vehicle.In the rear of the appliance,
cutting and spreading tools were fitted to the stripped down boot, also carried
were dry powder and foam hand-held extinguishers, also stored in the rear.
