This town of 44, 000 population is protected by an all volunteer fire service with five fire stations.

The central fire station has, in addition to this unit, three pumps, an aerial, two rescue trucks, two equipment trucks, two pod carriers, a utility truck and a personnel van.

There are sixty operational volunteers attached to this station, and they respond to around 400 alarms a year, mainly in their primary response area, which is the town center with around 23, 500 inhabitants.
