Great photo - what a beauty - something like a "Sedan-Body" over here.

I am guessing, she is a rear-mount pumper - have you any more photos and/or information.

You have captured the TLC that she is getting.

This appliance is currently due to be auctioned by Thimbley and Shorland on 10th October 2009 in Spalding and hopefully it's new owners will to continue preserve and display it so well.

When was this first put into service? It looks like it might date from 1937-39.

Midships pump which was removed I believe it was to be a Metz TL but then came the war so it was completed as a pump.

Neal - interesting background story.

As it turn outs, here in the US Seagrave built a lot of sedan pumpers in the 1930s, especially for Detroit, but were actually told to stick with open cab fire engines during WWII to save on precious steel!

It seems this was the opposite view from that of the UK authorities, as not only this Leyland but all of the new AFS and NFS appliances were also enclosed, except for some of the turntable ladders...
