hi ya calvin at the moment it is just a driver training vehicle but there has been talks about this being used to carry items to shouts

They will have problems with that idea Harvey. Cheshire F&RS bought a similar (but Scania) vehicle secondhand from Bedfordshire, the idea was for it to be a duel role Driver Trainer and Operational Support Unit (Heavy Rescue Unit.) Driving Standards who operate the driving tests in the UK have decreed that a test cant be undertaken in a loaded vehicle, it is not very practical to remove all the kit for every test.

North Yorkshire run a 53 plate Volvo FH 12 for driver training (picture 7612). It is based at the training centre and at present can be used to transport portable toilets to incidents should they be required. There is talk that all the canned stock of foam compound is going to be kept at the training centre and if required will be transported on this vehicle.

A 2008 appliance(lorry with box)maybe just for driver training, what ever next?.
at one time, ex-operational fire appliances were the norm and used for training.
i know the brigade lost afew of there pumps a couple of years ago, but that was
around one-third.what with all the cut-backs, whats happened to the other's that
could be used for driver training, etc?.

Pete, the Driving Standards Agency spec for vehicles used for driving tests have recently been changed and the requirements are now quite specific including the types of gearbox allowed, this precluded old pumps now. The Scania we are using has a manual 12 speed splitter box

This appears to be becoming the norm for driver training - sometimes as a box body, other times as a curtainsider.

Hi you all!LOL!No load and manual gearboxes on driver training vehicles? So, then you had passed the driving school, you has to start again, with a loaded vehicle wich has a automtic gearbox???
