Veteran Ladder Maribor-City

In use from 1944-1996. Now retired. 27 metres high + 3 metres in 75 degree angle = 30 metres total high. It was built in 1934. First, before the World Word II, it was in Africa, then it came to Europe. The chassis is Mercedes Benz Diesel. Still working perfect. The crew is 1 (Driver) + 2 (fire fighters) in cab. Behind cab is bench for 4-5 fire fighters. Bodywork is Metz.

This was obviously originally built with a front mounted pump. These were actually fairly popular on TLs in Germany in the mid 1930s, but were by no means universal. As in the UK, the pump installation was intended primarily to supply a ladder line or monitor. Many German TLs at this time also carried a two-man hose cart with 75mm hose, hung on the back of the truck.

A 62 year service life is quite a tribute to both Mercedes and Metz quality. Apart from the missing pump and the rather unfortunate paint job, it still looks pretty original.
