Fire Engines Photos

Hello Richard;
Having a classic red Dennis Fire Engine in your back-yard - you must have been the envy of all your child-hood pals.

Not to mention, the Informed Readers (still small boys at heart) of this 'Site. They will be posting the info on this beauty - hope she is in a good home.

Hello Pat,
My mother tells me that our neighbours took a bit of time getting used to having a Fire Engine in the avenue. I think we used to give some a fright as we came home in it!
But as you say, it was great going out in it with friends.
We used to stop out in a quiet place in the country and be allowed to practise our hose skills. Great fun!

My father has regreted ever selling it but the only consulation is that the shed that it was stored in burned down a few years after he sold it and it would have been soul destroying if it had have been lost.

Lets hope she is bringing pleasure to some-one else now.

Richard Long, what I love about this photo is the little girl in the background bringing her weight to bare, to enable those beautiful escape wheels to turn, , As for (Richard), the dirty rotten little sod, why couldn't my parents have had one of these F12's tucked away down the bottom of the yard, , , , !?

Hi Richard, I have found some information concerning this appliance on the internet which I think will be of interest. It was sold by Sothebys at the Royal Air Force Museum, Hendon on 18.9.95. Estimated at £3000-5000 it sold for £3450 including premium.
Other details provided were: Year 1953, Chassis 3819 F12, Engine 209W1B80E20C

I know this is a long shot and it's some 4 years later, but did anyone find out if this engine is still around? I ask as next year (2013) is Warrenpoint stations 60th anniversary, and I'd love to get a recent photo of her to display.
