I wouldn't want to drive that around! Especially to some of the jobs its likely to go to ie: farm fires, cannock chase etc!
Do you have any pics of the Staffords Scania ALP? seems theyve spruced it up with LEDs and new stripes!

I've only one photo of Stafford's ALP, but it isn't very good. It has indeed had a spruce-up with new lights, battenburg markings and it has a new name: it is now called Emily for some bizarre reason! It sports a nameplate on the front saying so!

Hi Pete, she holds 8000 litres of water and 3000 litres of foam. The appliance is built to a unique specification requiring crews to undergo rigorous training resulting in this vehicle only recently going on-the-run in December '08.

Quite a round tank - lessee;
8, 000 litres Water would be 1760 Imp Gallons, or, 2113 US Gallons.
3, 000 litres Foam is 700 Imp Gals, or, 793 US Gallons.

Would be nice to have had 2nd Rear Axle powered, especially for poor road conditions - ice, snow, mud etc.

On board pump ? just for water-transfer ?....

These were driven around North Wales during the driver training. I saw them on the A5 road on 4-5 occasions, a bit big for the streets of Corwen too!

These big tankers are very widely used in many European countries which also have narrow country lanes and small towns with narrow streets. Their bulk is rarely a problem, because both the tankers and the pumps they supply have hoses! A pump equipped tanker can supply water over a considerable distance, so it does not need to be right next to the pump it is supplying....
