It used to be very common in many former USSR states to use this off road 6X6 Zil military chassis for turntable ladders, which are VERY unusual in almost every other place. Bearing in mind winter road conditions in many Russian and Eastern European towns, perhaps the idea did make a bit of sense, after all. Or maybe the manufacturing focus was just a bit more slanted towards military use, even for clearly non military applications?
