Rescue boat on a flooded river Ouse

Crews prepare to bring the second rescue boat at York fire station, North Yorkshire out of the river Ouse on Saturday 6.9.08 due to access problems with a very quick rising river. York station has 2 boats and this one is usually moored on the river from April to the end of September every year due to the large amount of visitors and pleasure boats that come to the the City. Note the 2 cars in the back ground on the opposite bank. These cars had been left over night by their owner and when they returned on saturday morning they were partially under water. These cars were later recovered by a crew from York fire station using a vehicle mounted winch from a rescue pump. The position of the boat in the photo is very close to where the Land Rover is photo 10799, on a drier day.
