STAFFORDSHIRE F&RS, KIDSGROVE FIRE STATION

This is the day-crewed/retained fire station at Kidsgrove to the north of Stoke-on-Trent close to the Cheshire border. This station operates a Rescue Ladder and a Water Tender. They respond to around 600 calls per year.

Over the past few years all of the five stations in the Stoke-on-Trent area (including this one at Kidsgrove) have been replaced with brand-new, PFI-financed, state-of-the-art buildings. Also an additional single-pump wholetime station was built midway between Kidsgrove and Burslem at Sandyford. This additional resource enabled Staffordshire F&RS to downgrade Burslem and Kidsgrove to single-pump retained stations. Curious that an inner-city station such as Burslem is retained.
