This is the 'good' K4 ECU the National Museum have annoyingly the registration is not visible, it did come down from Lothian and Borders Museum if that helps along with a 60' TL
Thanks for showing this picture of Marks, Rick, its good to see another still in the grey livery in its original shape with no modifications. Have they actually done the restoration on this one yet, and is it now on display?.Pete.

Registration is GXA 797, I think the last operational station for this ECU was Kelso, (Retained) replaced by a Bedford TK PE in the early 1960's. It used to run very well whilst in the Edinburgh Museum.

Great photo, nicely illustrating the 350 IGPM Barton American front mounted pump.
These PEs had a 130 IG water tank, two first aid hose reels, enclosed seating for up to six crew and were designed to carry the typical wooden telescopic wheeled escape ladders of those days, which were usually 15 meters, but were also occasionally built as 16.5 or 18 meter long versions.
Like this example, most continued to be used by urban and county fire brigades well in to the 1950s and early 1960s, and similarly specified and equipped units were also built on both Bedford and Fordson truck chassis. At least one was also converted to an ET/P.
I personally saw examples in service in Liverpool, Whitby and Wolverton, Bucks, but of course there were many others too.
