I remember this Tyne & Wear appliance being delivered, and it spent most of its working life out of Sunderland.

Ian, to me 'VCU' has always been Gateshead's TL. When did it become 'Victor 3' if it started life in Sunderland?
At a distance the photographs look encouraging but I know there is a great deal of work to be done.

I'm sorry Barry - that was my error. It ran as "Mike 3" for some considerable time later in its life, but as you so correctly say, it's original allocation was indeed as "Victor 3". Apologies.
