There are ten fire Districts in Tokyo (population 9.3 million).

Each has a unit like this, which approximates to a British MCU, a US ICU, the French PC or a German EL2.

There are 80 large full time fire stations and 206 community volunteer fire companies. Staffing includes more than 18, 000 full-time personnel providing fire, rescue and EMS - and over 26, 000 additional volunteers - who do not provide EMS capabilities.

The front line fleet of fire, rescue and EMS units numbers almost 1, 000 vehicles, plus reserve, training and administrative support units.
