Date Confusion
Marcel, Just a trivial point, but there has always been confusion over the meaning of 'Date' when a new picture is uploaded. Many take it to mean the age of the appliance rather than the date of when the photograph was taken. Perhaps we could have two boxes labelled appropriately?
by Barry on 10 June 2008
Hi Barry,
I take your point and I agree that it is confusing, it has been confusing for a long time. So, you've convinced me to make a change to the site now (in particular as the real revamp is going to take a few months before it is going to happen).
We've temporarily taken down the 'year' option from the menu. We are still asking for the year at which the photo was taken and will show that information on the actual picture page. But we are also introducing a new field 'year build'. We will ask for this info from now on and we will go through all (yes all) the photos ourselves to try to complete this information. There will be a long list left for which we are going to ask the site visitors help.
Once we've done this big exercise we will make a menu option 'Year build' available.
Stay with us for a few weeks while we go through all of this.
Unfortunately due to restrictions in the design of the site we can not have both dates as a menu option, I hope the 'year build' is the most important one to use while browsing.

Marcel, this would seem to be a very worthwhile and useful enhancement! Thank you.
by Barry on 11 June 2008
We are one third down now, and hope to finish it in a week or two. Please note that there will be quite a lot left without known date. So site visitors assistance will be sought by then :-)

Marcel, I think you're making a lot of work for yourselves. You sure you want to go down this road? I thought Barry's suggestion would work fine and save you all the trouble,,,,
by Pavel on 30 June 2008
Hi Pavel,
My understanding of Barry's suggestion was two boxes for both dates. But if you can't 'filter' on this info then you might be missing the chance of a useful tool to browse through the site. And creating a new field for capturing info (year build) isn't difficult... but leaving 5k photos without any info in it wouldn't look good I think. Not to worry, we'll get through it fine... and hopefully it will help make the information provided by everyone just that bit more useful. Thanks for your feedback!

Awesome site
I have viewed this website (and its branches) for a year. I found out that those website is useful for the vehicles photographers to show-off their talents. I also want to suggest here that if can why don't host an image library of police vehicles or ambulances?

Mountain Range Windscreen
Hello there. I'm hoping that someone can help me out there. I'm after a windscreen for a Mountain Range Foam Tender(Cummins Engine), currently being used at our airport. It is a six-wheel drive and is fairly old but in good running conditions. The windscreen has a crack and there is a high probability that it might require us replacing it. Looking forward to hearing from you. Nigel
