I'm confused?.Dennis didn't make open cab fire appliances for fire brigades
in the U.K.from around 1948, this was because due to change in Government
regulations it meant public brigades had to switch to enclosed cabs so for
safety firemen didn't have to sit on the side of the appliance. This picture
shows what looks like an open cab appliance, so although being still made by
Dennis at Guildford it would not have gone to a public brigade.I'm still a
little confused though?.(See 1948 Dennis F2- picture #6339).According to my info,
this shows the last Dennis open cab fire appliance produced?, and that went to
a private fire brigade due to the Government regulations being introduced. If
we new the registration to this appliance, this might be of help, and Ian Moore
maybe can enlighten us with some useful information on this appliance.

Hi Rob,
I'm confused about the differences between a pre-WW2 Dennis Ace and postwar Dennis F1. The Braidwood body appears to be more like an Ace or light 4. Can anyone enlighten me on this? Thanks

Rob,
nice photo - looks like she's just out of the box from Dennis...and without the escape would almost fit in a car garage. The escape mounting is also of interest being the old style plain trunnion / fork mounting.
Pete / Bob,
I've seen another F2 locally (Aberdeenshire)as a restoration in progress. Ex UKAEA Dounrae - story goes Braidwood style to facilitate decontamination.
The F1 pictured has a body style more akin to the Light 4. The Ace had a driving position further forward but mechanically they seem very similar.

This looks very much like OMA 353, the F1 that was supplied to ICI Runcorn, and it was delivered in October 1951 which would tally.
