This 1939 Merryweather pump escape with Mahogany Braidwood body, finished in vermillion livery was delivered new to the Seaford Urban District Council Fire Brigade in Sussex just before the outbreak of war.It saw active service throughout the war period with the N.F.S.(National Fire Service),then in 1948 with the forming of the new County Brigades the appliances saw many more years active service with the East Sussex Fire Brigade still remaining at Seaford. This photograph was taken in 1990 and shows the appliance fully restored and preserved as it was when delivered in 1939 to the Seaford Urban District Council Fire Brigade. Its still around today, and still can be seen doing the London to Brighton Commercial Vehicle Run held on the first Sunday in May each year.
