100 years of Dennis Fire Engines

Just a reminder that this year sees the Centenary of Dennis Fire Engines. Many rallies and museum open days will carry this theme to celebrate 100 years of fire engine production although we are still waiting to see if the Guildford Dennis factory will mark it officially.

I should add that the Rochadale Fire Museum is holding it's Dennis Centenary celebration on Sunday 1st June and would like as many Dennis's as possible to attend. This will be an ideal event for Northern Dennis owners to attend!

I would love to come up to that celebration, living right down here though on the south coast of England makes it a little to far to travel.I'm sure though we'll be seeing alot of Dennis appliance pictures soon on this site-Great.
I am sending in a picture of what must be one of the oldest appliances by Dennis from 1914 still in presevation, but wonder if there more???????????.

Pete, there are several Dennis 'N' types earlier than DU179 the factory 1914 machine. Possibly the earliest is a 1911 45HP example which is in preservation in the South of England.

Thanks for that info Barry, I actually did mean to say are there any earlier Dennis appliances in preservation still around?.I've looked through this site
and found nothing earlier then a 1915(picture #2945 )N-Type so I thought I would
send in my picture of the 1914'N'Type Fire Engine from Coventry(picture #7633 ).
I've not seen the one from 1911, has anyone got a picture?.

I would hope the factory did some form of celebration but frankly i doubt it, they don't even advertise their fire products to any great extent, maybe they are letting it die, pity they are the best

James, the 100 years of Dennis was on 1st June 2008 at a very rainy Manchester. I took some photos and I'll upload them for you and everyone else soon.

I am trying to trace a particular fire engine, a 1948 dennis. It was the engine Monsanto Chemicals used. Any ideas? Ive heard it is in a museum in Wales but had no luck fiding it. I have the reg if this helps. Any1 have any ideas please?
