1939 Dennis ' Light Four/New World 'Fire Engine.
This is a 1939 Dennis Light Four/New World bodywork fire engine (reg BPM 212) new to Hurstpierpoint Parish Fire Brigade and then Cuckfield Rural Council Brigade before emalgamation in 1948 to the East Sussex Fire Brigade. This appliance saw service well into the late 1950's before going out of service and then finally put into presevation, and is in actual fact one of three such Dennis Light Four's from East Sussex still in presevation today that I know of.The others being BPM 213 which was based at Turners Hill, and the other,BPN 698 being based at Newhaven (I have photo's) Fire Station.

I think "Sedan Body" might describe it, on this side of the Atlantic.
I take it that "New World" meant the crew's seats were inside the body, versus the older way of having them perched on the outside of the engine ?
