Hafnarfjordur American LaFrance

When I entered the town of Seydisfjordur there it was. A nice looking American Fire Truck. It was parked next to the ferry building. I had to move some road traffic signs to get a nice picture, fortunately there was no constable in the neighbourhood :-).
This American LaFrance pumper is no longer in service. The badge on the side of the doors tells me that is was in service with the Hafnarfjordur fire brigade. And why the truck was parked here ?? I really don't know. But that doesn't matter, I got it in front of my camera.

Marcel, GREAT SITE, GREAT SHOT!!! I live in america, and it is nice to see american fire truck's in other countries. Looking at the La-France name plate, this is a 900 series.

Marcel, beautiful shot. Certainly is a mid mount 900 series aerial.

Marcel, is this the ex US Navy air station ALF that was based at Keflavik?

Hi Andrew, I really don't know the answer to your question. I do know that in Iceland several US built fire engines were in use. So it's possible it was bought by the Hafnarfjordur Fire dept. directly.

Brill, keep up the good work marcel.

Oops looks like a 1000 Century series and not 900. The strip of metal above the bumper (Fender) gives this away.

I think your buying and looking at to many of those American Fire Apparatus books Andy. This is certainly an American LaFrance'Century Series 900'midmount aerial ladder.
Interesting to see it only has 3 extensions which makes it possibly only 65/70ft?.
Great picture Marcel, she's one of my all time favourite American fire engines.

Ha HA you're not wrong there Pete. Got another one coming. 100 years of ALF. My all time favourite ahead of Crown.
