How many vehicles did East Sussex lose all told? They seem to be down a serious amount of gear! RIP to the firefighters that were lost, they are the hardest to replace afterall. Thanks

Dave, from the local newspaper, The Evening Argus on 3rd December, 2007, one year on from the incident it states:-Nine fire engines(Appliances), three specialist vehicles and several cars were wrecked by the blast. The'specials'were Brightons Aerial Ladder Platform, Uckfields Water Carrier, and the brigades Incident Command Unit. The blast cost £3.8m to the fire service, and the cost of two of their firefighters who can never be replaced-at any cost....Pete M.

Thank you very much gentlemen. Are they replacing all of the vehicles? They are running a few Hampshire loaned WrLs and a Merseyside ALP but I would have thought that many vehicles would cost more than 3.8 mil. Thanks

To the above comment, they are no longer running the Merseyside ALP H157GBG and they are now using on loan M58FYS, from Strathclyde.

Hi Pete. I wrote the report for the FBS quarterly magazine, the report had to be
submitted by late July (for November publication) and the delivery of the new appliances were thought to be on time. But due to late delivery of the new Volvo safety cab on the right hand drive chassis the replacement programme is running about 4 months late. As stated by Harvey Dan the first pump is due otr
at Barcombe early Jan.and finishing mid April at Lewes.
For Andy. Ref. the Strathclyde ALP. This vehicle SHOULD have been on the run at
Eastbourne, but turned out to be trouble on wheels, a lot of money was spent trying to get it serviceable. The vehicle never went on the run and I'm told is
now in storage at Parkhead fire station in Glasgow.
The rather tatty looking Merseyside ALP is still at Eastbourne and working well.
