Prince Rupert's Fire & Police Museum 1958 pumper

I found the information about it online at:
www.princerupertlibrary.ca/fire/

1958 American LaFrance

As one of only 2 LaFrance fire vehicles built with a prototype "transmatic" transmission, we believe that this is the only one left in existence. The riot act was once read from atop this vehicle twice in one night by former long time Mayor Peter Lester. Removed from service in 1990, it was donated to the museum where local members and a long list of local business helped to restore her back to her original beauty.

The Museum also contains history and artifacts of the BC Police, a provincial force that preceded the present day Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The BC Police, operating from 1858 to 1950, has quite a colorful history up here in remote northern British Columbia. Our collection, small but growing, of B.C. Police artifacts, is said to be the largest of any collection in the Province. This 4-door sedan car was a former B.C. Police vehicle. Found in Terrace, B.C., this vehicle is currently involved in a complete restoration from the frame up.

Yes Fire Fifer, your observations are spot on! However, I'm waiting for someone to comment on the abomination of a ladder rack, I've never seen anything like this before on an ALF?

As we are scratching our heads on this one......
1957-58 Ford trucks had the "Transmatic" transmission.
It is worthwhile, to read up the Web Site above:
a) the vehicle description was lifted verbatim from the Site,
which includes the paragraph about the Provincial Police and
the non-existent police car.
Therefore, the photo, and the description must be 2 different machines.

b) Even, better, the Web Site has photo of a real honey - a 1925 REO Speed Wagon - in service to 1950 - a chemical wagon - you know, a "giant" soda acid fire extinguisher mounted on a truck. The acronym is for Ransom Eli Olds, an automotive pioneer, who also founded the Oldsmobile car-brand, ran for 107 years, until General Motors "shut'er down" in 2004.

Maybe, the ALF is inside, with the REO.

The vehicle is a Ford based pumper built by American LaFrance. The same Budd cab was used on "entry level" Mack trucks as well by the way.
ALF built a number of fire fighting units on this chassis including some for LA CITY Fire Dept with canophy cabs and Caterpllar engines.
