These eight ton Varios were very popular for many years with both Dutch and German fire services - as well as being used in many other countries as compact first due pumps in small towns and congested old city districts.

Generally, they had a pump of 1600 LPM or 2000 LPM capacity and an 800 to 1000 liter tank, with crew accommodations for five or six.

The German version - LF8 or LF8TS - had a front mounted 800 LPM pump and a large nine seat cab, and the TS version also carried an additional 800 LPM portable pump, but neither had a water tank.

A water tender version had a two door three seat cab, an 1, 800 liter tank and a rear mounted pump, but was a bit of a rare bird.

Some of these were built on factory 4X4 chassis too, which gave them a modicum of off-road ability, but were mostly ordered to deal with snow covered or muddy rural roads.
