NSW RFS LIGHT RESCUE PROTOTYPEDetails and a prototype of the NSW Rural Fire Service light rescue appliance have emerged and we’ve had some great content sent in by Alysha Springett.
It has been identified by the State Rescue Board that there are a number of isolated locations around NSW that are outside of a 60 minute response time for the nearest applicable rescue unit, so 9 NSW RFS brigades have been officially endorsed to undertake Road Crash Rescue training and capabilities.

This light rescue prototype was designed after consultation with brigades who determined that a trial of a light appliance as opposed to the traditional large pumper / tanker could be of more benefit in remote locations. The appliance will carry no firefighting equipment, rescue gear only. This allows the appliance to carry out rescue coverage during firefighting operations.

We sold hundreds of these 4X4s to oil companies and servicing and exploration companies. They took them out in to the deserts under awful operating conditions and they proved to be amazingly tough, reliable and durable. 40 degree heat, no roads, sand like talcum powder - no sweat!
With proper maintenance these should last for a good twenty or thirty years in fire service use...
