What is a new I3 actually, in addition to being a rather obvious opportunity to create a moving visual cacophony of squares, rectangles and stripes in a variety of contrasting colors?

Are there I2s too, or even one I'd ones?

Could you explain the numbering system please?

Added by CraigW on 16 May 2018.
It’s I meaning Station India pump 3 there is also I 1 India 1 which is classed as a pump ladder for rescue all stations have a letter and number C Charlie station has C1 C3 C4 so that’s a pump ladder a pump and a all terrain vehicle with pump hope this helps

I3 is the callsign, I being the code for Hartlepool fire station

Added by Stephen on 17 May 2018.
fleetnumbers are allocated in a fairly random order re-using whatever gaps there are from previous vehicles leaving the fleet, callsigns are a letter denoting the fire station then a number indicating appliance type/role

I3, B3, C3, A3, E3 carries no RTC gear at all. B1, I1, D1, H1 are dedicated Heavy Rescue Pumps.

Is this a universal system now in the UK, or a Cleveland initiative only?

Added by Rob Johnson on 17 May 2018.
So I = Hartlepool and it's their number 3 machine? I thought it was a number 13! and O16 is fixed Cleveland fleet number ? Must be quite a lot of number changing when vehicles transferred station to station. Anyone with a list of station letters ?
