from 1953. The odd thing is I have another photo of this appliance with conventional doors not jacknife. I wonder if they were changed later. Is that an Essex Kew or Comet behind?

I have seen video of the same dual purpose in action when it had been was changed to London livery after the merger, and it still had the same odd door configuration.

London and Middlesex both had similar Merryweathers with four hinged cab doors, as did many other brigades - who bought a total of over 120.

The pump appliance is indeed a Leyland Comet - not a Dodge Kew, but also something of a rare bird...
