Bush fire trailers and Pumper

Ok, so they are not fire engines but they play an important roll in our local community the 2 trialers are manned by local volunteers so they can protect their own properties in bush fire season. they have a portable pump 6 lenghts of hose nozzles hydrant and knapsacks.
The truck in the back ground is an International 1800 series and is used by me and the crew for all types of emergencies from fire to snake relocating, rescues and hazmat incidents.

Location: Sydney Australia, photo taken November 2005.

Comments:
How are these trailers transported ? With a fire department vehicle or just by private car ??
Snake relocating ?? Sounds dangerous :-).

The trailers are usually placed in streets and not moved unless training they are for the local people to protect their own houses and generally mop up after a bush fire has passed so we can continue to move on and fight the main fire. As for our crew relocating snakes several of us are trained to catch snakes and reptiles (alive) and we release them into surrounding bush away from houses. in 2004 summer season we relocated 18 snakes from green tree snakes (non venomous) to Red Bellied black snakes and Brown snakes (highly venomous) without any injuries. these snakes are about number 9 and 5 on the most venomous snakes respectively. Our fire station is one of only a few trained in snake handling.
