Are those dents on the rear of the appliance cause by stone throwers. I thought that was a modern day habit

Shane, there is a lad in NI who makes logoes and suchlike to order as we have bought tractor decals before from him and he will do one offs, age has worked its usual trick and I cant remember his name but you should be able to locate him. I think he was based in Belfast.

Drove one of these on a few occasions they were a Bedford engine and chassis with coach work by Alexanders of Belfast hence the name, they were the greatest bundle of junk that ever was put "on the run" The Brigade started to replace the AEC's, older Dennis's etc with these rectangular red boxes.I think this may have been around 1979-1980 era not sure though.

The NIFB changed to this 'Alexander Crewcab' in 1979 with there 1st Bedford TK1260 chassis - before this the NIFB Bedford TKG appliances had the standard Bedford cab & Alexander doing the rear crewcab & bodywork. I believe this appliance was the last NI Bedford TK WrL before they changed to the Bedford TL1260 chassis in 1980s (with the same style of bodywork) for the WrL appliances although the NIFB already had a few Bedford TL750 'midi' Pump Ladders & before the Bedford's in the 1970s the NIFB had Dodge K850 & K1113 machines built by Alexander & Carmichael. I also believe this applince was sent to Leningrad after its service in Northern Ireland
