Hi Herbie. Wonderful photograph. The old W6.1. Played on her many a time when I lived in Brynford in the 1970's. Replaced Commer QX/Buttons WDM 488 at W6. Replaced by Volvo FL6.14/F+W WrL G897DKD. HEY245N was later exported to Madeira where I received a photograph from a former Gwynedd DO whilst he was on holiday there. As far as I know she is still there. Land Rover/Carmichael CCC 149 (KSU 927) is also there.

Was replaced by G897DKD Volvo FL6.14/Fulton&Wylie. I'm not 100% sure but one of these ERF's ended up in Madeira and I think it was this one.

Herbie, there is a photo of this appliance on "Traveller Dave" dated as 24.3.98. It was taken in Viana Do Castelo , Minho, Portugal, still with its Clwyd crest and UK reg number! I am pretty sure its export was something to do with a DO having been on holiday and seeing the standard of cover they had in Madeira.

One of a batch of four and were the first appliances bought by the County of Clwyd Fire Service after the creation of the brigade in 1974. The other three were at Denbigh, Llangollen and Chirk but that at Holywell was always the best kept, just look at those lockers and bumper. They must have polished it to within an inch of its life!!

Thanks Andy and Gary. When I was in the Job never thought to make a note of the fleets coming and goings. Need you boys to keep us up to speed

The appliance in the Portugal pic is actually HEY246N (to err is human!). So two of these made it to the Med. It would be interesting to know if either survive now. Have to agree with Dusty, Holywell kept this in tip top condition, as they did with the later Volvo. The RBL poppy badge was a feature of Holywell appliance windscreens for a number of years too.
