BSPP operates 26 of these as well as six identically equipped pods which can be transported on roll-on/roll-off chassis.

Crewed by two firefighters, they respond along with regular appliances to major fires and provide two principal additional capabilities:

1- They carry two preconnected flakes of 110 mm hose totaling 800 to 1, 000 meters each, to assist in insuring that adequate water supplies can be pumped from high capacity hydrants or other water sources, positioned so that they can be played out from the rear tailgate.

2- Two removable 1, 000 liter tanks each containing class B firefighting foam compound, located immediately behind the cab, with outlets plumbed to empty both tanks simultaneously. These can be replenished by inserting a replacement tank using a fork lift truck.

Miscellaneous additional items include hose fittings and adapters, foam making equipment and branches and a portable transfer pump and hoses to distribute compound to other appliances.

As such, each is half hose layer and half foam tender - an approach which is possibly limited to France and certainly not very common elsewhere.
