Perth City Rescue Pumper

Perth City Rescue Pumper in Western Australia, Scania 94D. Those keen observers among us will note though the lettering on the front designates it as a medium pumper and "Perth 3RD" appears on the cab doors. I inquired of the senior officer whether it was a heavy rescue appliance and he said it was their dedicated rescue appliance for that station. I'm a little confused, perhaps some of the local guys could clarify for me, thanks,,

Regardless of what anyone says, the midship pump bay is there in your picture for all to see. Perhaps the local station threw out the hoses and etc to make room for rescue equipment, but it seems a bit daft. Otherwise, you have a combination pump-rescue here, but the mid-mount pump does not leave much locker space to fill both roles. Much better a rear-mount pump.

The answer to Pavel's confusion is: there is no pure heavy rescue fire truck in West Australia anymore!
When in 2004/2005 the fire brigade in WA had to decide how to replace their one and only HRT (an old Austral FirePack), FESA choose to place their heavy rescue equipment on 6 medium pumpers placed at fire stations in and around the city: 1 each at Freo, Daglish and Welshpool, 2 at Perth City, and 1 spare. Since then, they were designated as 'medium pumper heavy rescue' (MPHR).
In 2009/2010, at the time of the introduction of a series new Scania 'urban pumpers', the FESA-designation MPHR was changed to MP. Both the MP76/1QBA995 (usally Perth 2nd or Perth 3rd) and this MP69/QAM457 (usually spare) remained equiped as 'rescue pumper'.
